I got to mess around with my new (old) Canon A540 today. It's only a 6mp camera, but there's alot of room for potential in the right hands. I've seen some good shots with these older A series cameras. They are full function cameras and most of the A series Canon's can take lenses with an adapter. I'm just excited to learn new things and really try hard to take good photos on a camera that isn't booming with pixels. Here's a couple of sample shots. The quality is probably going to be down due to blogspot hosting. The A540 is only a 6mp camera, but you can see it can hold its own.
